WOW. A year after my first review of their homemade from scratch sandwiches and they still have the best.
Purchased a Jar of Manoah's sweet garlic dill pickles, jar of grape preserves, Kolaches and a cup of coffee. The lady at the counter was very nice and shared a funny story about the coyote hide hanging on the wall. The pickles are addicting defiantly will pick up a few more jars my next trip through, will have to update the review about the grape preserves as they were stolen by my brother before I could try. Lots of fresh bake goods on display. Well worth the stop..
Home made breads, sweets and amazing customer service. We bought kolachies, zucchini bread and sandwiches that were made in front of us. This is a local business worth supporting. Will definitely be back!
Went in for the fried pies and found out they are baked pies. Didn't make any difference in the taste. Bought about 8-10 pies of different fillings and all I ate were great. Some of the best were Apple, Bavarian cream and vanilla cream. Those were all I tried and each were great. The real winner was the light sour dough bread. We had it for dinner with fish and bbq ribs and it was outstanding. I will be back to buy more of both.
The ladies in the bakery were helpful and friendly. They helped with what they thought we would really like and were spot on. Bought $25 worth of baked goods and got a free loaf of the bread. Glad I went for the free loaf. May not make the $25 next time but will definitely buy the bread.
This is a must stop when come back to lake fork.
The place is cute and clearly a small, hometown type operation. I couldn't identify the music but I liked it. I appreciated the woman working in the kitchen who noticed me waiting and called over the cashier. I wanted to write them a glowing, business generating review.
But I was honestly a little underwhelmed. Now that may be my fault. The homemade candy looked cool but I didn't need any candy. The savory breads looked amazing but I was on the road and wasn't sure I needed a full loaf of bread. So I opted for a plate of fried pies. They had a plate of discounted, day old fried pies and I chose that. That was a mistake, a little soggy, way too sugary.
So, dear reader, don't so what I did. Get a loaf of bread and tell me how good it was, how subtly delicious it was and what a knucklehead I was to choose the one item in the whole shop with which I would be dissatisfied.
I look forward to hearing from you.
